Two black gay men with five kids get married in California and their children speak at the wedding. Whatever you think about gay marriage, there is something quite touching about this ceremony, I found myself going “awww”. I know not all black gay men agree with gay marriage, but I admire those that can stand in front of their families and friends and declare their love for another. At the time of their wedding, they had been together for 11 years, which I just love to hear because most of the time, we only hear about all the negative stereotypes. I also love the diversity of the guests at the wedding and the love their kids have for them. Recently(since launching the blog) I have met and spoken to a few black gay men in long-term relationships and by long-term I mean 5+ years. Taking it to the next level and getting married, just makes the relationship even more visible and says to the world we are not ashamed of who we are, or of our love. Gay marriage might not be for everyone and you might even be uncomfortable with the idea of two black gay men getting married, but when I stumbled upon this video on Youtube, I found it quite touching and inspirational and wanted to share it with you guys. There is a lot to be said for true love, openness and honesty and seeing that between two black gay men just made me smile. Now go on and go find you a husband!
