Black Gay Men’s Blog aims to collectively inspire awareness and individuality. Sounds long-winded? Basically, I have noticed some disturbing trends among black gay and bisexual men, over the last few years. Depth and substance are no longer valued and individuality is no longer celebrated like it once was. Our main focus seems to have become an obsession with sex and(for some) money – with little regard for anything else. Substance has been replaced by substance abuse and many of our young men wander around aimlessly, from club to hook-up, without any direction(or support) in life. We pretend to be happy, when in reality, for many young black gay men, there is nothing gay about being black and gay, in today’s world.
Back in the day, the older black gay men used to support the younger ones. Many became parents to the younger black gay men. In this day and age, most of us spend more time online than in each others company, so why not try supporting one another online? If we all learn something and maybe have a few laughs along the way, all the better. We all have something to share, even if we might not realize it. All our experiences are valid and might help someone else going through(or avoid) a similar situation.
The opinions expressed on this blog will be just that – opinions. Mine and those of the other contributors to the blog. I won’t always agree with the other contributors and you guys certainly won’t always agree with me. The whole point of this blog is for black gay men to start talking about things that really matter(and stuff that makes us laugh or pisses us off too). I hope to get a few experts to weigh in on certain issues to, so if any of you ever feel you have something to contribute, please get in contact. Black Gay Men’s Blog welcomes individuality and bashing other members will not be tolerated. The one common tone I want to maintain on this blog is positivity – there are tons of other blogs and forums, where you can be bitchy, negative and call each other names(which is usually learned behavior anyway and not necessarily the real you, but we will explore that on the blog).
Men are visual creatures, so of course we will also throw in some eye-candy. If a sexy man is what it takes to get you to Black Gay Men’s Blog, so be it. You might pick something else up along the way. I, more than anyone else, understand the power of flesh and sex – without it, I wouldn’t have the online audience I have today. It has always been my goal to turn that into something bigger than merely getting people off. Hopefully, Black Gay Men’s Blog is the beginning of that adventure. Black gay men’s health, HIV and self-empowerment will be integral parts of this blog, but there will certainly be lighter moments too and shared experiences.
Thank you all for your continued support, without you guys, none of this would be possible. As always, please spread the word, we appreciate it. Special thanks to all out Twitter followers – you guys are the best! We will have more of a Facebook presence with this blog.
So far there are 3 other main contributors:
Storm and Ty – @blackgayblog | Jay – @blackgayporn (NSFW Tweets) | DLHeadGame – @DLHeadGame (we hear he might be changing his Twitter name LOL)
As I said, we will be inviting guest bloggers along the way and have a few lined up already. We hope you get something out of this blog, whether it is entertainment, knowledge, support, or just the satisfaction of sharing with like-minded people. Thank you for coming on this journey with Black Gay Men’s Blog.
